Your New Baby Parrot
Popeye's babies are human imprinted. By imprinted we mean that the baby was removed from the nest and handfed at a very early age. For this reason, going to a new home is not as stressful as it would be for a baby that was taken from the nest at a later date.
Make sure that you have a sturdy carrying cage that you can belt into your cars' seat for the baby to make it's trip home in. A cage sliding around in the car is enough to frighten even the most confident bird. Popeye's babies usually go for more than one ride in the car while they are growing up and they tend to enjoy the experience. Talk to the baby bird during the ride and he or she will probably take it in stride.

Find out what kind of toys your baby has already become used to and purchase some like them so that the baby will have something famaliar to play with. Introduce new toys slowly by placing them beside the bird cage or play area until the bird shows some interest in them. Birds are prey animals and they tend to be cautius around anything new until they are sure it's not a hunter.
Popeye's babies are given Cheerios(plain) cereal or a generic brand of it as they are being weaned. Keep some around to give as rewards and snacks. If the bird is situated where it can see you eating your meals, give the bird some cereal or a bite of fruit while you eat. Sharing meal time is a good way to bond with your bird.
